Il ponte venne costruito nel III secolo a.C.. Il suo prolungamento fu l'attuale Via Roma.
La struttura originaria crollata è tutt'ora visibile, parzialmente immersa nelle acque del fiume Velino.
Sopra fu costruito un ponte moderno.
